Overview
VIP (Vasoactive Intestinal Peptide) is a 28-amino-acid neuropeptide (C-terminally amidated) belonging to the secretin/glucagon superfamily. First isolated from porcine intestine by Said and Mutt in 1970, it is one of the body's most potent endogenous regulators of vasodilation, bronchodilation, secretion and immune tone. It is supplied here as a lyophilized powder for laboratory research use only. Each vial is labelled 10 mg. Within controlled research environments, VIP is used as a reference agonist to interrogate the VPAC1 / VPAC2 (and PAC1) G-protein-coupled receptor family, cAMP/PKA signalling, and the neuro-immune-gut axis. Its exceptionally broad biology — spanning circadian regulation (it is the key synchronising signal of the suprachiasmatic nucleus master clock), mucosal barrier integrity, and anti-inflammatory T-regulatory induction — makes it a valuable molecular probe. All data associated with this peptide are derived exclusively from in-vitro and in-vivo animal research models.
Research Uses
VIP (Vasoactive Intestinal Peptide) is supplied exclusively for laboratory research use and has been employed in controlled experimental studies examining:
VPAC1 / VPAC2 / PAC1 receptor pharmacology and cAMP/PKA signalling
Neuro-immune-gut axis and mucosal barrier / tight-junction research
Anti-inflammatory & regulatory T-cell (Treg) induction models
Circadian biology — suprachiasmatic nucleus (SCN) clock synchronisation
Vasodilation, bronchodilation and pulmonary vascular research
Neuroprotection and neuroinflammation model development
All applications are limited to non-clinical research systems designed to elucidate fundamental biological mechanisms.
RESEARCH USE ONLY
This product is intended for laboratory research use only. Not for human or veterinary use. All studies utilising this compound must be conducted in controlled research environments by qualified personnel.
