Overview
LL-37 is the only human cathelicidin antimicrobial peptide, comprising 37 amino acid residues starting with two leucine residues. Derived from the C-terminal of the human cathelicidin precursor protein hCAP18, LL-37 plays a critical role in the innate immune defence system. In research settings, LL-37 is utilised to study antimicrobial mechanisms, immune cell recruitment, inflammatory signalling, and wound healing processes.
